The EndoGuidance Veress Needle is a sterile and single-use device. It incorporated a spring loaded blunt stylet mechanism and stainless steel 14 gauge needle with a luer lock connector for insufflation. It is used to establish peritoneum prior to trocar and cannula insertion during laparoscopic procedures.

Directions for Use:

Prior to the operation, inspect the Veress Needle to ensure that the stylet moving freely in and out of the needle with minimal pressure applied to the stylet.
Insert the Veress Needle into the abdomen with the standard insertion technique. The spring loaded stylet retracts backward while the needle is pushed through the abdominal tissue. When the stylet retracts, an audible "click" will be heard. The stylet then advances forward once the end of the needle exits through anterior wall of the abdomen.
Check to ensure that the Veress Needle is in the abdominal cavity and insufflate to desired pressure.
Once the desired abdominal pressure is accomplished, stop the insufflation and remove the Veress Needle. Please follow instructions provided by the insufflator manufacturer.
When the endoscopic procedure is complete, dispose this device in accordance with local regulations.

Cautions/Warnings:

The Veress Needle is single-use only, and can't be re-used or re-sterilized. Do not use if package is opened or damaged.
Do not attempt to use the Veress Needle if the stylet does not return over the sharp end when tension on the stylet is halted.
Procedures for endoscopic surgery should be performed only by qualified and trained physicians familiar with endoscopic surgical techniques.
A thorough understanding of techniques and principles involved in electrosurgical procedures is necessary to avoid burn or shock hazards to patient and/or operator.
Federal (U.S.A) law restricts this device to sale, distribution, and use by, or on the order of a physician.

Contraindications:

This device is not intended for use when endoscopic techniques are contraindicated.
