How to Interpret hCG Pregnancy Test Results
- Negative - Not Pregnant : Only one color band appears in the control region. One red line appears in the control region (C). No red or pink line appears in the test region (T).
- Positive - Pregnant : Distinct color band appear on the control and test regions. The presence of both test and control lines indicate possible pregnancy. Color intensity of the test band may vary according to the concentration of hCG in urine. The higher the hCG concentration - the darker intensity of the test line, hence higher the likelihood of pregnancy.
- Invalid - Uncertain Results : No visible bands in the control and test regions. Make sure to follow the above specified instructions for optimum results.
How Does a Pregnancy Midstream Test Work?
Our at-home pregnancy test in midstream format offers a simple and accurate way of testing for pregnancy. When the egg is fertilized after conception in the women uterus, human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) hormone is produced. Medical Disposables midstream pregnancy tests usually detect if a woman is pregnant between 6 and 12 days after ovulation at levels of 20 miu/ml hCG. The amount of pregnancy hCG hormone increases as pregnancy progresses. False positives can result from drugs which contain hCG (such as Pregnyl, Profasi, Pergonal, APL). Alcohol, oral contraceptives, painkillers, antibiotics or hormone therapies that do not contain hCG should not affect the test result.
